tsenami | paloma radio 003

for our third episode, we took a different direction.

with toronto cooling down, tsenami welcomed us into her space for a mix that brings the heat back.

we had a little Q&A with tsenami about her recorded set for paloma radio...

q: which track in the mix do you think people will look up immediately after listening?

VIP by Yves V. i've gotten a few people come up to me before asking what that track was. definitely a heater!

q: be honest: before you hit record, was there anything shoved out of the frame?

definitely. this was actually the third time we had to film the set. the power cut out mid mix during the first take and i had to redo everything. the second attempt had lighting issues and the camera was just not giving the glow we needed. by the time we finally got the perfect take, we had pushed tripods, cables, bags, and so much random filming clutter out of the frame. on camera it looked clean and aesthetic, but behind the scenes it was a full chaos zone.

q: what’s one thing in your condo that accidentally set the vibe for this mix?

the lighting setup. we were adjusting it non stop earlier, and one of the lights landed on this warm reddish tone that matched the crochet pieces perfectly. it gave the whole scene this cozy but still clubby glow without even planning it.

q: if your neighbours heard this set, are they joining the party or reporting you?

i hope they would join the party. this set has a really fun groove to it, so if anyone walked by, i feel like they might pause for a second and peek in to see what is going on.

q: wearing the hat… do you feel like it puts you in a certain energy when you mix?

the paloma hats always unlock something fun in me. the pink crochet one especially puts me in full summer festival mode. it feels playful and bright and it makes me mix a little more freely, like i am on an outdoor stage with a whole crowd in front of me.

q: which track in your set is the one that always makes you do the little head-bob or stank face?

So Hi by Kream. this track always gets me. the second it drops, my head just basically moves on its own.
